Forever Families

Penny’s Family
Hi, my name is Penny, I hope you remember me. My sister and I were strays together until we wound up at the Downey shelter, boy that sure can be a scary place. I was hoping that I would not die in there. Lucky for me, one day a kind gentleman came to look at me and I just knew that he wanted to take me home!

Orissa’s Family
Hi, remember me Orissa. I was the one that was very afraid and hid in the corner of the kennel at the Baldwin Park Shelter. A rescue group had committed to take me, but decided that I was too timid and told the shelter they would pass on me. This nice man saw them and asked if they were going to take me. They said no, they could not because I was too scared.

Reba’s Family
Hi there! Remember me, Reba? I’m the smaller girl from the Baldwin Park shelter, the one who was passed over several times until one very special day when someone took a chance on me.

Laynie’s Family
Remember me? My name is Laynie. My sister, Kalani, and I were found roaming along the railroad tracks in Lancaster. The postmaster found us and took us to a veterinary office where we met Aunt Kelly. She decided we’d be kept at the office until German Shepherd Safe Haven could take us in.

Gunther’s Family
Hi, remember me? I’m Gunther and I’m one lucky dog. The only reason I’m alive today is because my foster dad, Tom, wanted to show one of the GSSH volunteers what the process was for temperament testing a dog when they pulled a dog from a high kill shelter.

Fargo’s Family
Hi, it’s me, Fargo, the dog that was adopted from the Downey shelter and then returned to the Baldwin Park shelter because I didn’t get along with the family’s son. My future foster dad and Aunt Jen just happened to be in line when I was being returned so it was my lucky day when they decided to rescue me.

Emily’s Family
Hi, remember me, Emily, the white Shepherd? Well it all started when Aunt Tricia noticed me at the shelter in Riverside and called Tom (who ended up being my foster dad). Aunt Tricia asked if he wanted her to temperament test me and he said yes so she took me out of the kennel and tested me and of course, I passed all of them!

Faith’s Family
Hi, it’s me, Faith, the little German Shepherd girl found running along side the road when it was 105 degrees in Hemet. A wonderful good Samaritan caught up with me, and I collapsed in his arms from exhaustion and dehydration.

Yukon’s Family
Hi, my name is Yukon, the dog that wandered into a church in Tehachapi with my brother, Zach. We were both taken in by a nice man who tried to find our owners. No one came forward to claim us. He tried to keep us, but we were way too much for him to handle. Instead, he decided to reach out to people, hoping that someone would take us both.

Clancey’s Family
Hi, it is me, Clancey, the dog that was dropped off at the shelter by my owners because they said they did not have time for me. A really nice guy came to the shelter and met me and I must have impressed him because he told the shelter coordinator that he would take me if they could find room for me.

Jenna’s Family
Hi, my name is Jenna, I was left in the night drop at the shelter when I was 8 weeks old. I was with my sister MacKenzie but she got adopted before me. The shelter was getting full and they did not think I would be adopted so I was taken in by a rescue so I would not be put to sleep.

Bear’s Family
Hi, it’s me Bear, the dog that was dumped at the shelter by my owners. I was not quite sure why I was there. When I was in my kennel, I kept thinking they were going to come back for me, I know they are missing me! There were so many people that walked by but none of them were my family.

Lacey’s Family
Hi, it’s Lacey, the sweet senior gal that was found with my pup Kingston in Lancaster. We had been wandering the streets for a long time and one day wandered into a yard where a nice person took us in and brought us to an animal hospital to get cleaned up. They fed, bathed and took care of us because they knew that we didn’t have any one else looking out for us.

MacKenzie’s Family
Hi, remember me? I’m MacKenzie! I am the dog that was adopted by a great family but my new daddy got pretty sick and could need keep me anymore. I could tell that he was really sick and it was a really hard decision for him but he was thinking about me and what was best for me. I was sad that I would have to leave him but he wanted to make sure I would be taken care of.

Geneva’s Family
Hi, my name is Geneva, the dog that was turned into the shelter by my old owners. They told the shelter that I was very aggressive with everyone so that was the label that was put on me from the start at the shelter. Once a dog gets a label like that, the chance of getting out of the shelter alive is slim to none, it’s pretty much a death sentence.

Zach’s Family
Hi, my name is Zach, the dog that wandered into a church in Tehachapi with my brother, Yukon. We were both taken in by a nice man and he tried to find our old owners but no one came forward to claim us. He tried to keep us but me and my brother were way too much for him to handle so he reached out to people to see if someone would take us both.

Tigger’s Family
Hi, I’m Tigger, the dog with the floppy ear and overbite that no one wanted because they thought I was defective. I was in a high kill shelter for more than a month and that is very unusual but it was all because there was one shelter worker that really liked me and kept moving me around so the shelter would not put me down.

Aiden’s Family
Hi, I am Aiden, the dog that was at the Devore shelter and labeled as “rescue only” because I was attacked by another dog while I was a stray and had deep cuts around my eye. On the day I was supposed to be put to sleep, a really nice woman convinced the shelter to let her take me and she saved my life!

Wrangler’s Family
Hello, it’s me, Wrangler, the aggressive, unpredictable and fearful boy that was at the shelter that everyone passed up because I was too big and scary looking. But one day, I got excited because there was someone who was actually interested in meeting me. Being labeled aggressive at the shelter is pretty much a death sentence so I was hoping that this was my chance out of that scary place.

Yelissa’s Family
Hello, it is me, Yelissa, the dog that was dumped at the shelter by my old owners. I was scared, underweight and really dirty. This nice gentleman came to visit and spend some time with me.
