My Dream Home!

Hi, my name is Jenna, I was left in the night drop at the shelter when I was 8 weeks old. I was with my sister MacKenzie but she got adopted before me. The shelter was getting full and they did not think I would be adopted so I was taken in by a rescue so I would not be put to sleep. My new foster dad picked me up and took me home and wow, it was really cool because there were other dogs there and I got to play a lot. Playing is really important to a puppy like me! What was also really cool was one of the dogs, Sophia, saw that I was just a pup so she took me under her wing and mothered me. She made sure the other dogs didn’t get to rough with me or pick on me. I felt very safe in my foster home because of her. One day, I heard my foster dad was talking to Aunt Kelly about whether she wanted to foster me for a while. My foster dad had his hands full with the other foster dogs and it was tough having a puppy in the mix. He knew what Aunt Kelly’s home would be much better for me. Aunt Kelly said she would love to foster me so later that week my foster dad loaded me up in the car and drove to Lancaster. When we arrived, she was really excited to see me. I was greeted with open arms and couldn’t wait to go home with her.

Over the next few weeks, I had some health issues and Aunt Kelly helped me get over them. Once I was healthy, I was spayed and she took very good care of me after my surgery. I learned a lot being in her home and really fell in love with Uncle JR. We did a lot together and it was always a fun adventure when he got home from work because we would go out to feed the horses and other animals. I also got to play with all the dogs in the home and they all loved me because I was so mellow with them. Once I was all healed up from my spay surgery, my foster dad told Aunt Kelly that he would come and pick me up because it was time to find me a forever home. The night before he was going to pick me up, Uncle JR took me out to do our normal routine of feeding the animals and said to me, “Girl, you need to be good and show how good you are at your meet and greet. I know you can do it but I am just telling you so you know what to do, make me proud of you!”. I was kind of sad that I was leaving because I learned so much in Aunt Kelly and Uncle JR’s home and had so much fun there. I knew I needed to be strong the next day for everyone but I could tell they were upset so when my foster dad got there, I kinda acted out. Courtney, my human sister was crying and Aunt Kelly was on the verge too so I started to freak out and did not want to go with him. I wanted to stay so they would not be so sad. But once I got in the car, I started to settle down. I looked back at all the time I spent with Aunt Kelly and her family and will never forget how much they all loved me and how much I loved them. But it was time for me to find my forever family.

We got back to my foster dad’s house and there was Sophia, ready to help me and make sure the other dogs didn’t boss me around. The next day, my foster dad took me to the park for a meet and greet with a couple but I didn’t feel a connection with them. A couple days later, I had another meet and greet with a man who had filled out an application a couple months but was waiting for the right dog to adopt. He saw me on the website and wanted to meet me. When we met, I instantly felt a connection with him and the woman that came with him. They brought their furry friend Murphy and I really didn’t react to him because this was all new to me. They spent an hour or so with me and I could tell they were falling in love with me and I was really liking them. They then told my foster dad that they wanted to adopt me! Yay!! I was so excited. They still had to go through the rest of the adoption process with the home visit and the reference and vet checks. Everything checked out fine for my adoption so my foster dad set up a time with my future dad to finalize my adoption. My future dad specifically picked a day where he would be home for the next four days so we could get to know each other better and bond. That made me feel super special!

The day finally came to go to my forever home and I was so excited. My foster dad loaded me up into the car and we took a long ride to my new home. I slept the whole way there and when we arrived, my new parents had new toys and a crate waiting for me! We went to the backyard and I got to play with all the new toys while the adoption paperwork was being completed. Once that was done and I was officially adopted, we took a family photo to celebrate the occasion. Before my foster dad left, he gave me a hug and told me to be a good girl. No problem with that! I found my forever home and love my new family as much as they love me!
