Tigger’s Family

Meet My Mom, Dad and the Best Sisters in the World!

Hi, I’m Tigger, the dog with the floppy ear and overbite that no one wanted because they thought I was defective. I was in a high kill shelter for more than a month and that is very unusual but it was all because there was one shelter worker that really liked me and kept moving me around so the shelter would not put me down. All that work paid off because one day, a nice man came to visit me and wanted to evaluate me so the shelter worker that was helping me stay alive took me out of my kennel and led me to the meeting area. I knew it was my one last time to prove that I was a great dog so once I got in the meeting area, I took center stage and shined like my life depended on it because it did. I ran around, grabbing a toy and playing by myself by throwing the toy up in the air and running after it. The man said, wow, you are really playful. So I just kept running around, throwing toys in the air and continued to show my playful side. That did the trick because I was able to convince him to take me home. I was so excited so I gave him tons of kisses. I was neutered the next day and he picked me up the following day.

I wasn’t sure what my foster home would be like so I was kinda scared but I knew I was safe with this guy because he saved my life by getting me out of the shelter. When we got home, there were some other dogs there that I got to play with but I had to be on crate rest for a little while because I needed to heal from my surgery. But once I healed up, boy was I ready to play with the other dogs!! I learned how to play with the best of them. Toys and balls were my new best friends and so were my foster brothers and sisters. It was great to be a part of a pack! I went to a few adoption events but people weren’t really interested in me because of my overbite and floppy ear. I did my best to show people that those two things didn’t affect my awesome personality but I guess they still weren’t convinced. I met lots of people at a huge adoption event called the Pet Expo and got lots of love and attention but still no applications came in for me. I started to wonder whether I would ever find my forever home. After the Pet Expo, I went to live in a new foster home which was cool because I got to meet new people and dogs. My new foster mom took me on a walk one day and I met her sister and her family and I really liked them! We met up with them again a few days later at her home. I got to play with the three girls and it was so much fun and I think the girls really loved playing with me too! What a great family they are to see me for who I am and not what I look like. They saw my personality and loved me!

My foster mom talked to my old foster dad about her sister’s family and that they were thinking of adopting me. My ear rose up and I was thinking, did I just hear what I think she said? Me and the three girls, friends forever??? That would be so much fun! I was hoping I wasn’t just hearing things and that she really did say that! Well, my hearing was just fine because my old foster dad met me and my foster mom, her sister and family at a park so we could play, hang out and see how I was with the family. Everything was great and the family decided they wanted me to be a part of their family! I think the dad just wanted another boy in the family and was really excited that they would have one now – me! My old foster dad drove me over to my forever home and everyone was so excited. I was running around like crazy because I had a whole new set of toys and balls to play with and three girls that will love me every day of my life.

It took me awhile to find my forever home but the one I found is an awesome, loving one, just perfect for me! I love German Shepherd Safe Haven, you never gave up on me and believed that there was a forever home out there just for me.
