Enjoying the good life with a lake view!

Hi, it is me, Clancey, the dog that was dropped off at the shelter by my owners because they said they did not have time for me. A really nice guy came to the shelter and met me and I must have impressed him because he told the shelter coordinator that he would take me if they could find room for me. He put a hold on me which was a good thing because they were going to put me to sleep that Saturday. The shelter checked the notes on me and saw that the guy was interested in me. I am so thankful for that or else I wouldn’t be alive today! Thank you foster dad Tom! He came to pick me up and we had a long ride back to his home. We got there and boy did he have a lot of dogs there. It was a little overwhelming at first but I managed to be okay because they all seemed okay with me.

I got to play a lot in my foster home and all the other dogs were pretty nice. What I loved most was all the toys and balls that I learned to play with. My foster dad had to work with me a little bit on walking on a leash and I had a few manners that I needed to work on too but I picked them up quickly and became a very well behaved dog. My foster dad told Aunt Jill what a wonderful dog I was and that I would be a great foster dog in her home. She talked to Uncle Reid and they agreed to foster me. I was excited because there were only two other dogs in her home and she had a huge yard to play in. My foster dad met up with Aunt Jill and I was so excited, I wasn’t sure what to do with myself once I got into her car. When we got to her house, I met her two dogs, Lucy and Lucky. Lucky is really cool but Lucy was one difficult dog to try to get to know so we just ignored each other and we all got along great.

My time at Aunt Jill and Uncle Reid’s was very much an adventure. We went hiking all the time, I got to go on several camping trips and do things I would have never experienced at my old home. One day, I was introduced to Aunt Jill’s neighbor and they wanted me to meet their mom and dad because they lost one of their dogs recently. So Aunt Jill took me for a ride and we went over to meet Chuck, Valerie and their dog, Bama. I wanted to play with Bama but she was not that thrilled about that. But aside from that, I showed them the good, well behaved boy I am and won them over. They wanted to foster me first to make sure that Bama and I would get along so they decided to do the foster to adopt program.

The first week or so there was a transition. Bama did try to play with me but I would growl at her because I didn’t feel secure there yet. I just wasn’t sure how things were going to be like. So we just co-existed for the first week. I played a lot in the yard. One day, Bama kinda wanted to play a little again. I was very cautious but decided to give it a try. We just needed to time get to know each other. I really liked my new foster mom and dad though, they were very nice to me. I got to lay out on the deck and look out at the lake. What a rough life to have a view like that every day! A few weeks went by and I was all settled into my home. I heard my foster dad talking to Aunt Jill on the phone and it sounded like she was going to come over for a visit. I was hoping it would be just a visit and that I wouldn’t have to leave my foster home. I was really happy here and was really hoping that my foster parents would decide to adopt me. They gave me so much love and treated me like a king. The day came for Aunt Jill’s visit and my old foster dad, Tom was with her too. I saw the clipboard and the camera and knew what that meant! It was my adoption day! I get to stay here for the rest of my life! I was so excited to see everyone and knew this day was all about me!! Yippie! We all went outside to sit on the deck to do the paperwork. I took photos with Tom and took photos with Aunt Jill. Then we had a family photo taken with me and my family which I love so much! My family is the best and I am one of the luckiest dogs in the world!
