About Volunteering
** Please note, we are not accepting any volunteer applications at this time**
Our organization is made up of volunteers who have a mutual love of dogs and want to make a difference in the community. We are a fun group of people who find joy in simple things like a tail wag or a sloppy doggie kiss and we would love for you to join us in our rescue efforts! Below are some of the ways you can help us. Please note that if you are under the age of 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian before becoming a volunteer. All volunteers are required to sign a waiver & release form. If you would like to be a German Shepherd Safe Haven volunteer, please fill out our online volunteer application.
Fostering
Foster homes are an integral part of our rescue. We do not have a boarding facility where our dogs are housed so we rely solely on our foster homes to provide love and care for our dogs until we can find them forever homes. Click here for more information about our unique fostering program.
Showcase Events
Hold dogs, greet and talk to potential adopters, give out information and answer questions about our rescue, and assist with setup and breakdown. Please note that you must attend a volunteer orientation which includes training on how to handle dogs before you can hold dogs at an event.
Fundraising and Donations
Come up with ideas on how to raise funds, help out with special fundraising events, contacting pet stores for donations of dog food, treats, supplies, etc., contacting local businesses for donations of services or items that can auctioned, and assisting with the annual letter campaign are just some of the ways you can help.
Marketing and Publicity
Introduce our organization and goals to people in the community and in general, raise awareness for our cause.
