Eli’s Family
I Finally Found My Forever Home!
Hi, it’s me, Eli. The past 9 months have been pretty eventful for me. It all began when I was saved from the animal shelter with my brother, Frazier. We stayed together in the same foster home which was really cool because I loved hanging out with Frazier. There were other dogs there who I eventually became great friends with. I had so much fun playing with everyone and learning to be part of a pack. My foster dad taught me how to be a good dog with good manners. He also taught me basic obedience like sit, stay and walking on a leash. While I loved being in my foster home, I wondered when I was going to find my forever home. Frazier got adopted then Felicity, then Isabella, then Jacob…as I saw my friends get adopted, I was really happy for them but was hoping the next one to be adopted would be me. My foster dad said that I am a very special boy so I needed to be in a home as special as me. It’s just that if I don’t get enough exercise, I like to break out of my crate and go for a run on my own. I’m still a young boy and get bored easily. So I continued to stay in my foster home, playing with the other dogs and having fun hanging out with my foster dad. He took me out a lot so I started recognizing his neighbors that always came to me to say hi and pet me. They were so nice and always said what a good dog I am. I could tell they really liked me so one day, my foster dad suggested they start walking me so I can get to know them and they can get to know me too and if we are a good match for each other, they can start fostering me. How cool! I was so excited to get extra long walks and we totally hit it off so after a few weeks of walking and bonding, I made my big move, into their home! I was getting a real good feeling about this! I kept thinking was it going to be my turn to be adopted soon?? I was one step closer! My new home didn’t have any other dogs but there are a couple of grumpy old cats, Clyde and Polly. Clyde was cool with me but I had to work on being Polly’s buddy. I finally won her over after a few weeks. Things were going good! I continued to get lots of exercise (like 6 miles a day, sometimes more!) and I get to go to the dog park twice a week to run around and play with all kinds of dogs there. Then one day, I heard my foster parents say those special words to my old foster dad, the words I have been waiting to hear for so long — “it’s time to do the paperwork and make it official.” Yeah!! So last Saturday, all my paperwork was finalized and I officially became a member of Mommy Sandra and Daddy Chad’s family! If that wasn’t cool enough, I also get to see my old foster dad any time because he lives on the same street as me. Life is good!! It took me awhile to find my forever home but it was so worth the wait. I love my mom and dad and I am so happy!
