Bianca’s Achievements!
It will be two years on March 12 that we rescued Bianca from the City of LA’s West Valley shelter and boy, has she come a long way since her shelter days! She was happily adopted by Jon & Sally that summer and has since become quite a success story. Thanks to Jon’s diligence in her training, Bianca has become a shining example of what rescue dogs are capable of achieving.
In October 2012, Jon sent us an email proudly announcing that Bianca vom Haus GS Safe Haven was awarded the Certificate of Achievement from the German Shepherd Dog Club of America – Working Dog Association, Inc. for completing the requirements of BH. BH (Begleithundprüfung, which translates as “traffic-sure companion dog test”) tests basic obedience and sureness around strange people, dogs, traffic and loud noises. When passed, the dog can go on to schutzhund. Jon told us that the judge said that for a rescue dog to acquire the BH title the way she did was impressive in itself. But Bianca wasn’t done yet! She and her dad set their next goal to be the Schutzhund 1 (SchH1) title.
With a lot of hard work from both Bianca & Jon, they were determined to reach their goal. On February 23, 2013, Bianca competed for and was awarded the SchH1 title! The following is what Jon said in his email to us:
“This is a big achievement for us for several reasons 1) She achieved such a title in a sport where dogs of prestigious blood lines start training for since puppies, 2) She did this at around 5-6 years old 3) we pulled it off with a little under 4 months of training, 5) she is a rescue dog, and lastly, 6) the judges that awarded her the titles are SV judges who hold multiple world championship titles themselves (yes this includes germany and all of europe)…”
We are so proud of Bianca and Jon!! Thank you to Jon and Sally for giving Bianca a loving home and to Jon for being so dedicated to Bianca’s training. You showed the world that rescue dogs are the most amazing dogs ever!
