The “Rescue Only” girl found her home!

Hi, it’s Darcy, the “rescue only” dog in the shelter. A really nice shelter volunteer named Magen met me and knew there was something special about me so she called a few people she knew who would hopefully rescue me from the shelter. I was “rescue only” because I mouthed someone and they thought I was biting them. I am a puppy and like to play with my mouth but you know how people can be. One day, I was visited by a nice man and he performed some tests on me and I guess I passed because he rescued me from the shelter. He took me back to his home and it was exciting because there were a lot of dogs there I could play with. I was introduced to all the dogs and started to play with them, it was really fun! I discovered what toys and balls were and it was especially fun playing tug-a-war with my foster brothers and sisters. Once I got used to a home life and just being able to be a pup, it was time to find my forever home. I went to a big event called the Pet Expo and at first, I was a little nervous because there were so many people and dogs there and it was really noisy! But I settled down and had lots of fun hanging out with the volunteers and my foster brothers and sisters and of course, meeting all the people that came by the booth. I got a lot of love from everyone and people kept saying what a good dog I am. Even though I didn’t get an application from people who visited me at the Expo, I didn’t mind because it just meant that I haven’t met the right family for me yet.

Soon, we got a phone call from a woman who was interested in me. She wanted to know more about me so my foster dad told her about me being “rescue only” at the shelter and how I developed into a good, happy girl after I realized I was rescued and safe. She really wanted to meet me so she filled out an application and the next week, we met at the park. I fell in love with her instantly! She walked me around the park and I was trying to be on my best behavior so she would like me. We spent more time together and I think she fell in love with me too! The next step was for her home visit to be completed and that went well so a time was scheduled next week for me to be placed in her home. I was so excited, I couldn’t wait to see my new home! When we got there, my new foster mom was all ready for me with toys and a crate. I spent the next week going on walks, getting to know my new neighborhood and meeting new friends and neighbors. I was also trying to get to know my feline friend who is also part of the family but he really wasn’t interested in me, he just liked to watch me. That’s okay though because I know we’ll be friends soon once he realizes that I am a good girl. On Mother’s day, I got to meet the rest of my foster mom’s family and my foster mom was proud of what a good girl I was meeting everyone. By that time, my foster mom was ready to adopt me so my big day came the next weekend. After all the boring paperwork stuff was done, it was time for the family photo. Well, I feel the same way as Vail about that stupid camera, I’d rather play and roll around in the grass than look at the camera. But you know what, it wasn’t too bad. Now my mom has an awesome photo of me & her to remember that special day! I am finally home!
