Abby’s Family
Look at me now, I am a one happy girl!
Hello, it’s me, Abby, the playful girl! My foster daddy came out to meet & temperament test me after Aunt Magen contacted him and I scored because I was taken in by GSSH. Once I got to my foster home, it was kinda scary because there were so many dogs and I was unsure of them all. But soon, I learned how to play and boy, did I have fun! I got to chew on bones, toys and play with balls all day! What a life!! As much as I loved to play, I was still very shy with new people and didn’t walk too well on a leash so my foster dad took me on a lot of walks so I can get socialized and learn to walk better. I started gaining more confidence as I settled into my foster home and starting feeling safe there. After a few weeks, I went to my first adoption event and it was pretty fun. I met a lot of people but I was still kinda shy and reserved so my more outgoing foster brothers and sisters got more attention. That’s okay though because I knew the time would come when the perfect family for me would see past my shyness and see what a sweet girl I am.
And guess what, I was right! An application eventually came in for me and the family seemed like they would be a good fit so a meet & greet was scheduled so they could spend one on one time with me. A few days later, my foster dad took me to the park so I could meet the family. It was a really nice, young couple who was interested in me. They took me for a walk and they seemed to really like me. They didn’t have any dogs yet so I would be their first dog. How cool would that be?? I could show them how cool it is to have a German Shepherd as a part of their family! I was hoping that it would work out. Because adopting a dog was a new experience for them, my foster dad suggested they do the foster to adopt program so we both could make sure that we were the right fit for each other. They thought that was a great idea so that weekend, my foster dad took me for the long drive to their home. I was a little nervous because I really wanted it to work out but I just kept telling myself to just be the sweet girl that I am and everything will be work out. I got to their home and I walked in and it just felt right to be there, it already felt like home! They showed me their backyard so I could potty and then I looked around and thought how nice it is, there was a view of the hills which I liked. We went back inside and I saw the new crate and dog bed they bought for me. I knew they were going to take good care of me and treat me like a princess! I was already getting really comfortable there so I decided to lay down right in front of the door so I could protect my new family and home.
The next week was really fun because my new foster mom and dad gave me so much love and attention, I loved it! I went on lots of walks, met some new people and played with my new toys and hung out in the backyard with my family. Then one day, my old foster dad came back for a visit and I knew right then that I was going to be officially adopted by my family. I was so excited! They signed the paperwork and of course we took a family photo to commemorate my special day!! That was the best day ever! I have my very own family to love who loves me right back!
