OC Pet Expo 2013

What a whirlwind three days at the Pet Expo! Thank you to our volunteers Jessica, Taryn, Chad, Theresa, Wilu, Tony, Chris, Lauren, Bernie, Jeremy and Vaughan for helping us make it another successful event! Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the rescue and to the dogs, we couldn’t have made it through the Pet Expo without you!

Wrangler proved to be the superstar of the event like we thought he would be. Everyone was amazed by his well mannered nature especially still being a young pup at 11 months. And of course, his handsome, good looks definitely made people stop in their tracks!

Emily, our beautiful white Shepherd, was also a show stopper. Many people were awed by her good looks and sweet nature. Because white Shepherds are not as common as the black & tan Shepherds, people just had to stop to say hi to her, with quite a few saying that Emily is the first white Shepherd they’ve ever seen.

Our two playful little girls, Darcy and Chloe, did fairly well at the event too. Chloe was a bit shy at times but relaxed when given belly rubs. She absolutely adored hanging out with Tigger, who gave her a boost in confidence, when people approached to say hello. Darcy was our little entertainer during some of the slow times. She loved engaging Emily, Tigger and Chloe in playtime, going from one to another until she found a play buddy. She showed people her playful side and also showed people how Shepherds play.

Tigger was wonderful with meeting everyone that stopped by. He was excellent with adults and children. Bernie handled him well and talked him up quite a bit so we are hoping for some serious interest in Tigger. Maybe he will find his forever family as a result of this event, cross your fingers!

Vail, our sable boy, was also a big hit because of his unique coloring and lovable nature. He loved giving kisses, kisses and more kisses to all who said hello to him! And boy, this pup had stamina and more energy than all of us put together! Even on the final show day, he was still happy, energetic and ready to welcome people to our booth.

And last but not least, our Lacey girl…she is still on the search for her forever home. We haven’t given up hope that her foster dad, who is in love with her, will eventually adopt her but because he isn’t ready to do that as of yet, we wanted to get Lacey more exposure by having her at the Pet Expo. She was shy when approached by most people but actually did much better with kids approaching her. Lacey did get some visitors who wanted to spend some time with her and understood her shyness. We are hoping that an older couple she met with may want to put in an application for her because they love senior dogs and are looking for a companion for their 9 year old Shepherd. In the meantime, Lacey is back in her foster home in Chino Hills, spending long, lazy days with her foster dad and loving life!

It was a bonus treat for us to have a few of our adoptive families stop by for a visit. Dakota’s mom & dad came down from Burbank, Penny’s (formerly Ulani) family drove up from Chula Vista and Toby’s (formerly Frazier) proud mom & sister came by to admire the larger than life backdrop photo of Toby that was a part of our new booth setup. Xander’s foster to adopt family made the longest trek – coming from Ft. Irwin (north of Barstow) to visit and enjoy the Pet Expo. They brought Xander with them so we could see him again. Xander’s former foster siblings were happy to see him again too, especially Chloe who wanted to do nothing but play with him!

We would like to give a special thank you to Olson Visual for donating another set of beautiful banners for our banner stand and Promotional Design Group for donating our new backwall setup. Thank you so much, we truly appreciate your generosity!
