Ranger’s Family
I found my forever home in Silicon Valley!
Hi, remember me, Ranger, the other black dog? It all started at the shelter when my future foster dad wanted to meet me because my time was up. I am a sweet boy and did well with his temperament testing so he rescued me. When I got to my foster home, I was surprised at how many dogs there were there! It took a little time to get used to but I was glad that I was now safe in a good home. Soon after, I went to a huge adoption event called the Pet Expo and met a lot of people. One gentleman wanted to foster me because he had just lost his Shepherd recently to cancer and he missed having a dog to spend his days with. So my foster mom and dad decided to have him do the foster to adopt program with me. Everything was going great but he hurt his back and it was difficult for him to keep taking care of me so I went back to my old foster home which was fine but I had to get used to sharing attention with other dogs again.
I was overlooked a few times but knew that there was a perfect home out there for me. One day, my foster dad had a long talk with me, telling me that a nice lady in northern California put in an adoption application for me and wanted very much to meet me. He said that this could be the perfect home I’ve been waiting for so I needed to be on my best behavior when we met her. The next afternoon, my foster dad took me to the park to meet this lady and she was very nice to me. I was a little unsure at first because my foster dad walked away so she can spend some alone time with me but I settled down because she started petting me and giving me love. I’m a sucker for attention and had a feeling I was winning her over. And I was right! This lady and daddy had a toast to me, Ranger! I don’t think that has ever happened with any other foster dog during a meet and greet so I was feeling so special. But the best part was when she said that she wanted to adopt me! She invited my foster dad to breakfast the next morning and said I could go too. I was kinda sad to leave my foster friends but I was really excited that I finally found my perfect home. Daddy laid on the floor with me that night and said how happy he was that I finally found my forever home.
The next morning, we went to go pick up the lady for breakfast. We then arrived at Mimi’s and were taken to the patio area and I laid down while they ordered their breakfast. The people there were so nice to me, petting me and making sure I was okay. They ate their breakfast and talked about me and the rescue. They completed the paperwork for the adoption and of course daddy had to get a picture of me and my new mom. We went back to motel where my new mom’s car was and daddy helped load the dog food and supplies for me into her car. I got in the car and laid down and was ready for the long trip to Northern California. We stopped several times so I could stretch my legs, go potty and drink some water. We finally arrived at my new home and wow, it was a nice big house with a really cool yard to play in and explore! I get to lay on my bed and watch the squirrels and can chase them if I want too. And I get to go everywhere with my new mom. She told me that I get to go anywhere that has a patio and allows dogs. How great is that?? I’m going to have so much fun and I just love spending so much time with my new mom. I found a wonderful home and my life has really just begun!!
