Hi, my name is Maddox. I am a 8 year old neutered male. I am a big boy that loves to play with balls! I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have a ball in my mouth to chew on and chase! The commands I know really well are sit, down and wait. I am house trained and crate trained though I really like to just hang out in the house rather than my crate. I have let myself out of my crate before much to my foster mom’s surprise so she got me a nice big crate that I’m more comfortable in. It’s pretty strong too so I haven’t yet figured out how to let myself out of that one! I’m pretty good on a leash but I get really excited when I see other dogs. I know I’m not supposed to but I can’t help it. I’m not a big fan of small dogs either, I really prefer dogs at least the size of my former foster sister Sammie. Despite my past, I know that there are still good people out there so I love easily and bond strongly with my family. I love my foster mom a lot so I really miss her when she is not home. My foster mom calls it separation anxiety but I call it love!
I am a very smart Shepherd so I need a forever family that knows all about and has a lot of experience with German Shepherds and will be a good, strong pack leader. I will thrive in a home where I am given direction, positive reinforcement, consistency and of course, lots of love. Also, I need to be in a home where I am the only pet and where there are no young kids. A home with just adults would be ideal. If you are dedicated to me and to continuing my training to help me become a well-behaved Shepherd, I will be loyal to you for the rest of my life!
